You know how I rave about my couples all the damn time? Well if you’re looking for something different, head somewhere else because my couples are the bees knees. I had the honor to capture Miranda and Gabe’s beautiful Lakeside Estate Wedding in Virginia and let me say… OBSESSED. From them being the most fun loving and kind couple ever, to the gorgeous wedding venue and amazing food – this day was perfect.
Miranda and Gabe met back in college in New York several years ago. There love was absolutely magnetic and since then has continued to flourish. They currently have a one year old daughter together which btw, she’s adorable. Ever since they inquired, I knew that there day would be beautifully epic and it was. Even though Miranda and Gabe currently reside in New York, a lot of their families live in Virginia! They really wanted to be surrounded by their loved ones. So they made the trip down to good ol’ VA to get married, have good company and get crunk.
Miranda and Gabe got married at Lakeside at Welch Estate in Powhatan, Virginia. This gorgeous estate is positioned on Lewis Lake and gives all of the amazing amenities of a private venue. It includes incredible lakeside views, tent for outdoor receptions, stone fire pits, grand porch and so much more. It’s the perfect wedding venue in Virginia if you’re looking for something with gorgeous water views, privacy and tons of beautiful greenery. You’re surrounded by tons of open fields and even the drive up to the estate was lined up with pine trees.
On the day of this wedding it was the first warm day of the season and let me tell say… we were sweatin’! Despite the warm weather though, that clearly didn’t stop us from having a good time. The sun was shining and seriously made the trees GLOW (is that even the right word)? Either way, it was the most perfect day for Miranda and Gabe to get married. When Gabe and Miranda first inquired with me, they really stressed that they wanted their day to be all about them. They also wanted to stray away from the super traditional type weddings which uhm hello – I am here for!
For their ceremony, of course it was lakeside and it was just beautiful. The decor, the setup, the views just *chefs kiss*. Their ceremony was a bit smaller and was with their closest family, around 15 or so guests. From the moment that Miranda’s feet hit the aisle there wasn’t a dry eye in sight, and that included the groom. It really was such a tear jerker moment and it was just so beautiful to watch. Miranda and Gabe exchanged their own personal vows which of course, made us ball even more. The two finished off their ceremony with a first kiss and they were officially newlyweds – yassss.
After finishing up with their ceremony, we of course had to use the gorgeous estate property to our advantage. We went around and took wedding portraits with some family and of course their adorable baby. Then I stole the couple away to get some solo portraits of just the two of them and they SHOWED UP. I swear to you I am the BIGGEST hype person on your wedding day, but I can’t help it! Both Miranda and Gabe looked so amazing and I just couldn’t stop taking their photos. If we’re feelin’ it we keep going and boy oh boy were we feelin’ it.
While we were out taking their wedding portraits, the rest of their guests went to cocktail hour to wait up for the newlyweds. Before we knew it, it was time for the reception and that’s where things go REAL good. We spent the rest of the night partying, taking tequila shots and enjoying some bomb food. Miranda and Gabe decided to have a mash potato bar, martinis and steak and oh my gosh it was heavenly. Seriously… get a mashed potato bar and you won’t regret it. They had a mix of 90’s hip and Merengue music playing which really lit up the crowd. I may or may not have busted a few moves but let’s be honest.. that’s a given.
Seriously their wedding day was absolutely amazing. Not just because of what an amazing couple Miranda & Gabe are but how well thought out and organized the day turned out to be. Miranda and Gabe’s wedding coordinator was phenomenal and made sure that we all stuck to a timeline. Let me say it louder for the people in the back, TIMELINE’S ARE IMPORTANT!
Your wedding day timeline is so crucial on your wedding day. It makes sure that everything you want done on your wedding day is done well and fits within the day. A lot of the time whenever you work with a wedding photographer, we will provide you a wedding timeline for your photos. This timeline ensures that every moment you want photographed is documented and that no stone goes unturned. Making sure your wedding planner/coordinator and your wedding photographer are on the same page is key to making sure your wedding day runs smoothly!
If you or anyone is having questions about timeline building or are in need of a wedding photographer to capture your special day, I’m your gal! Click here to inquire and let’s chat about your wedding day vision.
