Alexis and Nick are actually high school sweethearts. They’ve been together for 10 years and now these two lovebirds are getting married – WOOHOO! Fun fact my husband, Cody, and I are also high school sweethearts. So I love being able to meet couples who share a very similar backstory. Lately I’ve been LOVING those hot and steamy-type sessions, which is what made me stand out to Alexis and Nick in the first place. They found some of my Instagram posts (which you can check out here) and the rest was history. They both really wanted to do something fun, and laid-back so of course, I knew exactly what to do. For this Spring engagement, we decided to head over to one of my favorite spots. Fossil Beach inside Westmoreland State Park. The light that hits this area of the park is absolutely unreal which is why I love shooting here so much. So like I mentioned before, Ashley and Nick really wanted those more steamy and intimate-type photos. They really wanted photos that reflected their youth and playfulness and just embracing their relationship. We spent the majority of the day running about on the beach, dipping our toes in the water, and soaking up that beautiful sun.
One of my favorite parts about Fossil Beach here in Westmoreland State Park is the light that we get. The sun hides behind the large cliff located on the beach. This essentially gives you blue hour for the majority of the evening! If you don’t know what blue hour is, I highly recommend you check out this blog post here! The sky gets to be this beautiful deep blue and I am freakin’ OBSESSED!
Now one thing you can say about me is that I am just about down for anything. Of course, whenever I work with my couples I ask them what they are and are not comfortable with. However, Ashley and Nick were so down to earth and go with the flow that they were ready for just about anything. Despite the weather being a bit on the cooler side, these two unzipped and started rolling around in the water. Again with the theme of hot and steamy! They were the ultimate troopers but you know what they say, anything for the shot is good for the soul – LOL.
Engagement Tip: The biggest advice that I can give to you when you’re working with a photographer for your engagement session? Communicate, communicate, communicate. Your photographer is there to make sure you get the photos of your dreams! So make sure you are properly communicating your wants and dislikes. Your photographer should know what your particular vision for your engagement session is. That way you and your photographer are on the same page and you get your dream engagement photos.
We spent the remainder of the night chatting it up, getting to know each other, and fangirling over the shots I was getting. Quite literally screaming if you ask me hahaha. While I had so much fun capturing Nick and Alexis’ Spring beach engagement photos, I’m even more excited for later this year. I’m having the absolute honor of capturing Nick and Alexis’ intimate backyard wedding in December. Ugh and I couldn’t be more stoked about it! Be on the lookout for that blog post because I can guarantee it’s going to be one of my favorites.
