Olivia and Matt’s beautiful downtown city engagement photos is what lights my soul on fire. These so radiate passion and love and getting to capture such beautiful moments of this special time in their lives in the least that I could do!
From the moment that Olivia inquired with me, I just knew we were going to be two peas in a pod. We actually had worked together before for a styled shoot where she was the model! Fitting since she is so damn gorgeous! Although, when I met her we didn’t really get to deep dive into her relationship until now.
When she met Matt, it was as if the stars aligned and the universe really said “here you go”! Not too long after, Matt was dropping down to one knee and popping the infamous “will you marry me” question to Olivia. Of course excitedly, she said yes!
Throughout the planning process for her engagement session, she really wanted those effortless, fun downtown city vibes. Naturally, that is right up my alley so off we went and I couldn’t have been more excited. She also mentioned that she wanted to incorporate a much more casual feel to part of her engagement session. Ding ding, that is when a lightbulb went off in my head. She and Matt share this beautiful industrial looking apartment with exposed brick which really brings in that casual, urban vibe. If you’re looking to incorporate a bit more of a relaxed vibe into your engagement session, you can’t go wrong with a cozy in-home photoshoot.
So we started off their session in their apartment, drinking out of mugs and soaking in some time with their fur pup, Pippin! Typically during an in-home session I really like to let you soak in the ambiance of your space and truly feel comfortable. After all, it’s your home!
Shortly after, we decided to head outside. Across the street from their apartment is this small open area where the light peeking in through the trees looked like pure perfection. Sometimes, especially when you are shooting out in the city or neighborhood, you have to work with what you can get! To be honest, though, we were very proud of this moment because it was very impromptu but worked out amazingly.
After a bit of more casual wear, Olivia and Matt changed into their more formal outfits for us to take off Downtown and wander the city a bit. One of my favorite things about shooting in the city is the fact that it adds so much texture, color, and character to your images. There is always something going on and you can play around with different lighting, angles and really make the most out of your photoshoot which I LOVE!
Towards the end of the night, we of course had to end it with one of my favorite foods… pizza! In Downtown Lynchburg there is a pizza joint that gives you those humongous slices of pizza. Naturally, this had to be our end of the night stop. We spent the rest of the night chatting, joking, and bonding over this moment which is some of my favorite moments when I work with my couples.
I can’t wait until we get to capture more of their love story at their wedding next October – woohoo!!
