One of the many benefits of being a wedding photographer is being able to document special moments with my friends. While this isn’t a common occurrence, as I too love to “get jiggy with it” on the dance floor. When it came to Bree and Dan…. I just had to say yes. This blog is all about Bree & Dan’s Spring Farm Wedding at Seven Springs.
Bree and Dan have become some of my best friends. I originally met them back when booked their engagement session with me. From then on, our friendship began to flourish into what it is today. We’ve grown so close that Bree and I have grown an intense bond. By intense bond, I totally mean going out to eat and getting two orders of cheese fries & moscow mules. Walks in the park & being silly goofy adult-kids are some of the many things that we have bonded over. So I would say our relationship is pretty intense. Please tell me you understood the sarcasm here… anyone?
Days leading up to their wedding, there was so much anticipation. We had all been talking, planning and waiting for this day for months and the time was finally here. Bree and Dan were going to get married, can I get a YASSSSS.
We started off the day with Bree and her bridesmaids getting ready. The bridesmaids were all wearing their matching PJ’s which I always LOVE. Matching robes or PJ’s are a great way to bring some cohesiveness to your photos & is just an intimate touch that really pulls everything together. We also made sure to focus on capturing a lot of the small details that Bree and Dan put so much work into planning. The florals, stationary, rings & jewelry and Bree’s insanely beautiful dress are some of the many things we were able to document.
Pro tip: If you want to become your photographers BFF, gather all of the details that you want photographed on your wedding day in a box ready for your photographer. That way when they arrive rather than scrambling to find everything, it’s all in one place! Trust me… you will thank me later!
After slipping into her dress, putting on her earrings and putting her final lipstick touches the bride was ready. Ready for the next step – the first look!
Now one of the best parts about wedding day’s hands down has to be the first look. While many people may choose to not do a first look with their partner, some others may choose to! It’s all based on preference and what you value the most. However what some people don’t know is that first looks are not just limited to your partner, but to others at well. Your first look can include your parent/guardian or your wedding party! For Bree, she chose to do a first look with her bridesmaids which was absolutely EVERYTHING. If you are ever in need of a huge confidence boost & a way to calm down your nerves, having your wedding party tell you how amazing you look can definitely help. I mean come on… we all know how hot you are but sometimes having a little bit of emphasis isn’t a bad thing.
After her first look with her bridesmaids, it was time for Bree to meet up with Dan for his special surprise. However what Dan didn’t know, is that we had a little surprise for him waiting before Bree arrived. One of Dan’s groomsmen surprised Dan at his first look pretending to be Bree. A classic prank on the groom and for good reason. It always brings such a laugh and totally lightens the mood before the REAL big reveal. When Bree came around, Dan was more than ready to see his beautiful wife-to-be after the ordeal he had just went through. His reaction though was just as amazing and he was so grateful to NOT see one of his friends in a dress.
We spent the rest of the time soaking up the gorgeous weather we were given and taking some wedding portraits. Before we knew it, it was time for the ceremony so we made our way over to the ceremony spot for these two love bugs to get married!
Bree and Dan got married at the Seven Springs in Ashland, Virginia. Seven Springs is an estate that is mixed with a classic elegance & rustic approach. It combines an historic estate along with a livestock farm which makes for beautiful and spacious landscaping which I adored. It really makes for such a relaxed atmosphere and is one of the prettiest Virginia wedding venues. I would highly recommend if you’re looking for a wedding location in Virginia, to check out Seven Springs.
Bree and Dan had an outdoor wedding ceremony and it was just as beautiful as you could imagine. Like I said, the weather was unmatched and it couldn’t have been any better. Bree and Dan really aimed for a moody type wedding with a mix of vibrant colors mainly through their wedding florals. After saying their vows & I do’s, the two kissed and they were officially married! Hip Hip – you get the point. We made sure to get a few more portraits of the bride & groom as the sun set & with their adorable pup before heading inside for reception.
The reception was essentially one big party and let me tell you, I was here for it! Bree and Dan had some gorgeous reception decor and let’s take a moment to appreciate the champagne wall that Bree built? #weddinggoals! We danced the night away before packing up my camera and heading out for the night. It was one of the most fun nights ever, not just because we were surrounded by some BOMB food but some amazing company as well. Cheers to Bree and Dan!!!
