I love it when my couples take normal wedding traditions and make it unique and that much more beautiful. I met Emmy and Camm while they were wedding guests at one of my couples, Emmye and Cullen’s, wedding! After initially meeting several months ago at this wedding, Emmy and Camm decided to book me for their Spring wedding and I couldn’t have been more excited. The morning of their wedding, I met up with Emmy at Salisbury Country Club while she and her bridesmaids finished getting ready. While everyone was putting the final touches on their wedding look, I began taking some wedding detail photos. Wedding detail photos take a specific kind of skill… okay not really but they aren’t as easy as you may think. Your wedding details come together to tell your love story, so making sure they are perfectly curated is KEY! Some items to include in your wedding details are:
Just make sure you have these all prepped and ready to go BEFORE your wedding day. That way as soon as your photographer arrives, you are set and ready to go. No more scrambling the morning of your wedding, we are SO done with that!
Okay okay… so I just about freaked when I saw Emmy slip into her wedding dress. She looked like a real-life princess and I was just so excited to get her in front of my camera. The space where Emmy was getting ready was the perfect backdrop for some moody bridal portraits, so naturally, I just had to use this to my advantage. Trust me when I say you all will FREAK when you see these. From there, it was time for Emmy to do a first look with her bridesmaids. Of course, they were absolutely starstruck as they saw their beloved friend standing in her beautiful wedding dress. I may or may not have shed a tear or two, but that’s beside the point.
Not long after it was time for Emmy and Camm to meet face to face at their wedding ceremony. They had their ceremony at The Lodge at Hope Church here in Richmond, Virginia. The Lodge at Hope Church is unlike any church that I have ever seen. While you still get the tradition and simplicity of having a church wedding, the lodge is located on church property with a little bit of a modern twist. It was the perfect space for Emmy and Camm’s ceremony! There were so many windows throughout the entire venue that brought in so much natural light. Which for a wedding photographer is a MAJOR green flag… just sayin’.
After the ceremony was over, Emmy and Camm were officially newlyweds. Can I get a woot woot?!?! We of course had to go outside to take some wedding portraits of the cute couple. Oh and boy oh boy was it hot, we definitely were sweating but you know what… girls gotta do what a girls gotta do! You may also notice that Camm isn’t wearing a traditional tux… in fact he was wearing his marine attire. Yes, you read that right. Camm is a paratrooper in the marines so you will also notice that his groomsmen were all of his marine buddies, which was so amazing. His best man was his childhood best friend which tbh brings tears to my eyes. I love it when you get to see long lasting friendships even up to the day of your wedding, it seriously is the sweetest.
It wasn’t long until we lost track of time and it was reception time! The ceremony space was converted into their reception space, which made it the perfect location for an open dance floor. We laughed, we danced, and ate some REALLY good food before heading outside for one last hoorah. Oh and by last hoorah, I totally mean an absolutely EPIC grand exit. Emmy and Camm had a sparkler grand exit which is always some of my favorite.
Tip: Opt for the longer stemmed sparklers when doing sparkler grand exits. That way your guests don’t run out of sparklers just in case we need to take the shot a few times.
If you are wondering what the perfect wedding day is, this would be it. Emmy and Camm are the most genuine and down-to-earth couple I have ever met. We were able to get some of the most amazing photos ever thanks to the 10 hours of photography coverage they booked, which ended up being so worth it. Trust me, when you’re wanting the best of the best moments captured, splurging on your photographer’s coverage is well worth it. If you don’t believe me, go see for yourself.
